The society that I was born into had some interesting ideas about encouragement. In fact such a thing was always viewed upon with mistrust, almost asking the one blessing your spirit with a ‘well-done’ or ‘this is what I see of Christ Jesus in you’
with suspicion and a ‘what do you want from me?’ mindset. The only time they seem to say good things to your face is when they are desiring to, well – get something from you. Or they say enough nice things so that when they say what they really want to say they have enough ‘brownie points’ accredited with you so they will not look so nasty when they tell you the negative thing that is really in their hearts. If you do a good job or the right thing it is really just what is expected of you so no ‘well done’ is warranted or needed. This has made it a correction only society, totally dysfunctional and unbalanced in its emotions and thought processes. And has given that nation one of the highest youth suicide rates in the world even though it is affluent. No one has placed upon or spoken out the value that each individual has to the earth or even to those supposedly closest to them. It seems they are so busy correcting children to mans ideas of perfection that they put so much stress on them that life is not worth living, you strip them of joy and peace and a healthy knowledge of their beauty and uniqueness. The young people do not have the inward strength or confidence in their worth/value to consider that who they are is important enough to anyone – let alone God or the earth. No one is more important than another, we are all equal, it is only by the blood of the Lamb that any of us will get into heaven anyway, the removal of sin as we humble ourselves and receive the completed works of Jesus Christ on the Cross when he said “It Is Finished” and apply that blood to everything that has gone wrong – or sin. It is the only way we can even come near a Holy God from whom no sin can reside near – light dispels darkness and if you want to hold onto your darkness or sin you cannot enter, so if we chose to retain or not acknowledge our sin (physical or emotional) in our self justification then we keep ourselves out of heaven as opposed to Him sending us to hell. Hell is just an absence of Gods love, joy, peace etc, and since earth is a mixture of good and bad and hell is just bad then all negative emotions will be amplified and full and extraordinarily scary. So, according to dictionary.com Courage is:- the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery. So – if the “en” which means
Truth is what is written above, now for the grace to be able to overcome this and learn to speak in the manner that God wishes for us to communicate with each other.
Ask the Father to show and reveal any cultural blockages that have come down through the ages in what your country believes to be truth about life and living. Upon talking to one man when he went to another country and was invited out, the meeting time was 8:30pm, but no other person showed up until 10:30pm, this was
normal for the country he was visiting, but for people like him and I it is just down right strange, you show up 10 minutes early, not 2 hours late. Cultural manners and norms are not necessarily sin, it is just what you are used to and how you interact, but this lack of affirmation is a sin and it has had a devastating impact on the people of that environment. One person who believes in you can change your life, I looked hard to find anyone who just relaxed and enjoyed me without agenda or hidden desire to manipulate me into their will and did not find one. It took me 15 years to leave that place and when I go back it will only be to finalize some left over bits then I will go to a culture where you arrive 10 minutes before the time of connection. Just an example, I am doing a PowerPoint class and the first 2 presentations that I made one man in the audience was a cheerleader, “you can do this” en-couraging type person and I did really well, he was absent for the 3rd presentation and I did not do so well, bit of a flop actually. Look out for beauty and for places to bless and to get excited when another does well, quite often a sports person will thank the crowd when they win, this is the reason. Begin to build courage, do not discourage or judge another, for the measure you use will be measured against you.
Father God we come before you with every word that has been spoken over us that dis-ables us from doing what we are created for and ask that you cover them with the blood of the Lamb and render them powerless. May Your word in us be a hammer and smash and destroy all that has a capacity to take “courage” from us, and with the breath of Your Holy Spirit blow the left over powder to hell. In its place we ask that You put what is needed into that vacant hole and fill us anew with life, love, liberty, health, wholeness in body, soul, spirit and that our free will can know the way that You would chose for us in order to fulfill our destinies in Jesus Name, Amen
